What makes the AC Sensor work without contact? The AC Sensor senses the electrical field which is always present with AC voltage. Why does the sensor flicker? The AC Sensor is sensitive enough to pickup static electricity. When rubbed against fabric or plastic, the AC Sensor picks up the charge created by static electricity, thus creating a flicker. What is the difference between a flicker and a steady glow? A flicker is created by static electricity. A steady glow represents voltage from a power company. Will the sensor work on round cords? Yes. When working with round cords it is important to remember that the conductor wire and neutral wire are twisted inside the insulation. When voltage is present, the conductor wire carrying voltage will emit an on/off visual indication that moves with the twist of the inner conductors. What does the UL listing mean? The Ultimate, AC sensor and Low AC locator are excellent safety and troubleshooting tools. The UL listing means that Underwriters Laboratory has extensively tested and concluded the AC Sensor to be safe and reputable for use by the public. Can the AC Sensor be used to detect a defective ground? Yes. If the ground is defective, the metal case can become energized with AC voltage. The user can determine instantly if a defective ground is present. The AC Sensor will light up to indicate a defective ground. An electrician should be contacted immediately, as this is a dangerous situation. What does the TUV (Technical Inspection Association) listing mean? The Ultimate, AC Sensor & Low AC Locator are excellent safety and troubleshooting tools. The TUV listing means that the products have been tested to be safe and reputable for use. |

The AC Sensor May Save A Life! Every year at least 30,000 individuals experience accidental shock. Over 1000 of these accidents are fatalities. The Santronics AC Sensor is a patented, UL listed instrument that is manufactured 100% in the USA. This instrument is a non-contact AC voltage sensor that can be used to detect the presence or absence of AC voltage in order to prevent electrical shock. No skill is required for using this instrument. The user simply places the sensor on the test area that may contain voltage. If voltage is present - tip glows cherry red. This instrument senses the presence of AC voltage through insulation, so no connection with the metal conductor wire is required. The AC Sensor is a must for all electrical and maintenance personnel! The Santronics AC Sensor is the choice of OSHA OSHA’s Electrical Technical Equipment Committee has selected the "Santronics AC Sensor" as the only product of its type that can be utilized by OSHA compliance officers to identify and cite electrical hazards of 50 volts or more.Personal Verification required by OSHA in Lockout/Tagout Procedures Personal Verification is required by OSHA regulations as the final step in Lockout/Tagout safety procedures, and it is the only way a person can be certain a circuit has been de-energized. Use the "Santronics AC Sensor" and prevent electrocution. |
